Ribbon Colors Explained

Horse show ribbons are awarded to the winning participants, and each ribbon color has a meaning.

One of the fun parts of horse showing is being awarded ribbons! Did you know each color represents a certain placing?

First place is a blue ribbon, second place is a red ribbon, third place is a yellow ribbon, fourth place is a white ribbon, fifth place is a pink ribbon, and sixth place is a green ribbon.

Large horse shows may even award ribbons through eighth place. Seventh place is purple and eighth place is brown.

Horse Show Ribbons Explained

Most Beginner level horse shows give ribbons through sixth place with a Champion ribbon given to the rider with the most points per division and reserve champion going to the one with the second most points.
